13 Workers Kept in Captivity for 24 Months Under Pitbull Guard
The workers were allegedly lured with promises of good jobs and high wages but were held captive for almost 24 months. Their mobile phones and Aadhaar cards were seized, and they were not allowed to contact their families. Two Pitbull dogs were kept to guard them and instil fear.
The victims, hailing from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal, were beaten mercilessly if they protested or tried to escape. They were given only dry rotis once a day.
The rescue followed one worker’s daring escape. Police have arrested two accused, Shivam Tyagi and Pradeep Baliyan, while the main factory owner is absconding. Investigations are also underway into the death of one worker and two missing persons.
