Couple Murders College Student in Gandhinagar Over Blackmailing Incident

In a shocking incident reported from a village in Kalol, Gandhinagar, a 20-year-old college student named Hardik was murdered by a married couple. The Kalol Taluka police have arrested the accused after discovering the body packed in a plastic sack inside their locked home.

### The Motive
Investigations revealed that Hardik had allegedly recorded a video of the woman bathing about two months ago. Using the video as leverage, he blackmailed her into physical relations. The woman's husband, who works in electrical repairs, eventually discovered the exploitation when he caught his wife talking to Hardik on the phone. Despite the couple's initial hesitation to report the matter due to fear of social stigma and defamation, Hardik’s persistent and brazen behavior pushed the husband to plot his murder.

### The Execution
On July 11, the woman called Hardik to their home under the pretext of a meeting. While the husband pretended to leave for work on his bike, he returned quietly while Hardik was inside with the woman. As Hardik lay down, the husband pinned him to the bed. The woman held Hardik's hands to restrain him, while the husband strangled him with a dupatta. To ensure the victim's death, the husband subsequently tightened a fan wire around his neck.

### Aftermath
After committing the crime, the couple packed the body, locked their house, and fled after dropping their three children at the woman's father's house. The victim's father, Rameshji Thakor, filed a complaint leading to the police investigation. Post-mortem reports confirmed death by strangulation. Interestingly, police revealed that despite the blackmailing claims, neither the woman nor her husband had ever actually seen the video Hardik claimed to have. The husband broke and discarded the victim's mobile phone after the murder; police are now seeking remand to recover it and further investigate the case.
