Indian Navy Plans to Equip Most Warships with BrahMos Supersonic Missiles by 2030

Building on its tactical success during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Navy is rapidly expanding the deployment of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles across its surface combatants with the goal of equipping most warships by 2030.

Key Highlights:
- Fleet Integration: Around 20 warships are currently equipped with BrahMos systems, with over six BrahMos-capable vessels inducted in the past year alone and all new warship commissions built with integrated launch capabilities.
- Design and Retrofitting: Newer indigenous stealth frigates like the Nilgiri-class (INS Udaygiri, INS Himgiri, and INS Mahendragiri) feature eight vertically launched BrahMos missiles, while older platforms are undergoing retrofitting to replace legacy anti-surface missile systems.
