Anubrata Mondal Joins Rebel Faction

The ongoing rebellion within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) shows no signs of stopping, dealing another massive blow to former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Reports indicate that her trusted aide and strongman from Birbhum, Anubrata Mondal, has officially joined the rebel camp. The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) has appointed Mondal as the president of the Birbhum district.

West Bengal LoP Ritabrata Banerjee stated, 'We have appointed presidents for various districts. Prasun Banerjee has been made the Malda district president, Debashish Kumar for South Kolkata, Sandipan Saha for North Kolkata, and Anubrata Mondal for Birbhum.'

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Calcutta High Court has directed TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee to appear before the Bidhannagar ACJM Court on July 15 to provide his voice sample. The court also expressed strong displeasure over his lack of cooperation in the ongoing investigation. Justice Sougata Bhattacharyya noted that while Abhishek Banerjee was granted interim protection from coercive action on May 21, it came with a clear directive to cooperate with the probe. The Justice questioned why Banerjee was avoiding the lower court's order for a voice test and hopping from one court to another to challenge it, instead of assisting in the investigation.
