Mamata Lashes Out at Rebels

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Friday launched a scathing attack on leaders who left the party and joined BJP. Addressing a virtual meeting of North Kolkata district TMC, she called them ‘gaddar’ (traitors) and compared leaving the party in tough times to abandoning one’s sick mother.

Mamata accused the rebels of joining BJP to save themselves from cases and protect their wealth. She said there is no forgiveness for betraying the party that gave them identity and respect.

She praised grassroots workers for their sacrifices and urged them to remain united. Mamata also targeted the central government and central agencies for what she called ‘atrocities’ on opposition leaders and workers.

She appealed to workers to make the July 21 Martyrs’ Day rally a success and warned rebels that they will be answerable to the people.
