📅 July 30, 2026 🏷️ Spirituality/Religion
The holy month of Sawan is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to scriptures, devotees must observe certain disciplines and avoid specific actions during this period to receive the full blessings of prayers.

Key Highlights:
- Dietary Restrictions: Avoid consuming tamasic foods like garlic, onion, non-veg, and alcohol. Eating brinjal is also traditionally and scientifically discouraged.
- Prohibited Offerings on Shivling: Turmeric, kumkum, tulsi leaves, ketaki flowers, and torn Belpatra should not be offered to Lord Shiva.
- Ritual Precautions: Milk should never be offered using copper utensils; instead, brass, silver, or steel vessels should be used (copper is reserved for water only).
- Lifestyle Guidelines: Refrain from oil massages, cutting hair, shaving, sleeping during daytime, harming animals (especially snakes and bulls), and speaking harshly or disrespecting elders.
